Elżbieta Marszalec, Ph.D.

Scientist, academic teacher, and entrepreneur.

Received her Ph.D. from Warsaw University of Technology. She carried out research on optical color measurement and physics-based color vision at the University of Oulu (Finland) and VTT-Technical Research Centre of Finland, Information Technology Institute. She was managing the color research of the Machine Vision Group and she was responsible for creating the Physics-Based Face Database. She was a visiting scientist at School of Computer Science, Robotics Institute, Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh (USA). She studied business management at the Hanken School of Economics in Helsinki.

She is a docent of the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Oulu in the area of color machine vision. She is specialized in color computer vision and its applications in technology and medicine, including biometric research, skin cancer detection and digital solutions for printing industry.

Elżbieta was awarded the name of the Ambassador of Women Entrepreneurship in Poland in 2017. She is also active in the family business field and is a Vice-President of the Women's Economic Council for Entrepreneurship and Development in Poland.

Janusz Marszalec, Ph.D., MBA

Scientist, academic teacher, entrepreneur and mentor.

Received his Ph.D. from Warsaw University of Technology and MBA from University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management. He carried out scientific research in Electronics Institute of VTT- Technical Research Centre of Finland in the field of computer vision, optical distance measurements, fiber optics and laser technologies for global businesses (Nokia, Kone, Fortum, European Space Agency) and cooperated with companies located in the science and technology park Technopolis.

He provided advisory services to the President of Poland, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the National Research and Development Centre (NCBiR) on cooperation of science and industry and commercialisation of the research results based on his Finnish experience. He also runs workshops for scientific institutions, teaches entrepreneurship and commercialisation of results of scientific research at the Warsaw University of Technology and mentors startup companies.

For many years he has been a member of the panel of judges for the European Business Awards in London and for the MIT Technology Review Innovators Under 35 competition.
